Micro Habitats
Plum Hollow Farms is dedicated to maintaining unique zones that support a diversity of plant, animal, and microbial lifeforms.
Supporting our non-human partners 🦋🐞🪱 🐝
In farming there are hundreds of variables that are out of your control. But one way to increase resilience in the face of changing conditions is to increase the diversity of lifeforms that your land supports.
This is the spirit behind our efforts to create micro-habitats that benefit indigenous plants, wildlife, and invertebrates.
Wetland Habitat
Wetlands and ponds provide sanctuary for a variety of wildlife by providing food, water, shelter, and safe breeding.
Hedge Habitat
Trees, hedges, and stump gardens support birds and insects while protecting soil from wind and water erosion.
Meadow Habitat
Meadows provide critical habitat for indigenous plants, insects, and wildlife while minimizing flood risks.
