What's a Food Forest?

Starting in 2024, Plum Hollow Farms began converting the former 6 acre tree nursery into a regenerative growth zone featuring mounds, ditches, fruit, nut, and berry trees, companion plants, and ground cover.

This project is a collaboration between our team and permaculture experts and sets the template for the expansion of Food Forest zones over the coming seasons.

Water Management

Our food forest projects transform traditional fields with the introduction of mounds, ditches, and companion plants.

Diverse Planting

Planting takes place primarily on mounds and includes nitrogen fixers, vegetables, berries, fruit and nut trees, and ground cover.

Regenerative Approach

The goal is to increase productivity and resilience while eliminating chemical fertilizers and hazardous chemicals.
